Polling Numbers

With all of the hoopla about President Bush's low numbers at the end of his Presidency, did you know that Jimmy Carter also finished at 34% approval rating?

It isn't that hard to figure out the approval rating game. It is impressive for Obama to be ranked as high as he is right now, but itwill be more impressive if he can keep it. In as divisive as the environment is, it is quite a task for anyone to keep an approval over 50%.

Legacy approvals are just as hard to figure out. Reagan continues to enjoy a rise in his legacy rating as time goes on. Even many Democrats rank Reagan as high. Bill Clinton although he left office with a high number in the 60's, that number continues to drop as time goes by. It will be interesting to see what Bush has in 4 years and beyond.

Obama's Job Rating Poll

The Gallup Organization on Saturday said 68 percent of Americans approve of Obama's first three full days as the nation's chief executive. That's a number near the high end for new presidents, but short of President John F. Kennedy's 72 percent in 1961. Gallup's poll found that 12 percent in the survey disapprove of Obama's job performance. That number is typical of all presidents.

Obama took office with very high polling numbers and the numbers have slipped, but remain very high. I would expect to see the numbers continue to dip as he continues to push his spending bill (oops, Stimulus Package) through Congress.

According to Real Clear Politics Polling Averages, Congress continues to show only a 21.8 approval rating. Keep an eye on these numbers over the next several weeks.

Obama shows Transparency in First Week

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs repeatedly and adamantly refused to comment today on the reported U.S. air strikes.

In response to several questions, notes CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, Gibbs said the strikes were something he is just not going to talk about. - CBS News

As President Obama signs Executive orders to slow the fight on Terrorism, get rid of Lobbyist from Government, freeze salaries, allow abortions overseas with our money, promises transparency and etc. The word must not have traveled to everyone. Now, I don't think that we should talk about military operations. The strange part is, this is what he and his supporters bashed Bush for. Tell us what is going on. It seems the first week of change is a mix of change in the wrong direction and more of the same on other things. Maybe week 2 will bring us the change and hope we heard about. Maybe we will see the economic recovery plan that he keeps speaking of. Maybe he will even abide by his own rules.

Uh Oh!!! Mr. President, Already!!

(CNN) -- Just a couple of nights ago, we heaped praise on the new president for announcing what he called a new era of openness, where in his administration, transparency would rule the day.

And the lobbyists that he was so critical of during the campaign? Well, he told us they will now face even tougher new restrictions.

President Obama: "The executive order on ethics I will sign shortly represents a clean break from business as usual. As of today, lobbyists will be subject to stricter limits than under any other administration in history. If you are a lobbyist entering my administration, you will not be able to work on matters you lobbied on, or in the agencies you lobbied during the previous two years. When you leave government, you will not be able to lobby my administration for as long as I am president."

That's what he said two days ago. But as we first told you Thursday, and sadly we are learning more about this Friday, President Obama already wants an exception to his own rule.

You see, what happened is, there is this former lobbyist for a big defense contractor called Raytheon. His name is William Lynn.

President Obama wants him to be deputy defense secretary. So, the Obama administration wants a waiver to its own rule.

That basically means they are saying, we will mostly put tough new restrictions on lobbyists, except when we won't.

Really? Is this how it is going to be?

Please, please don't make us all any more cynical than we already are, Mr. President.

If you have no intention of abiding by your new rules, then don't make new rules. That would be "actual" transparency. - CNN's Campbell Brown

It is good to see that more of the media is finally starting to see who Obama really is. He is a well spoken smooth talker. He could sell you a freezer in the arctic circle, he can tell you one thing and do the other without batting an eye. Welcome aboard Campbell Brown.

Some not Happy with NY Senate Pick

Some people aren't that happy with the pick by Governor of New York to fill Senator Clinton's spot.

Democratic Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, a strong advocate of gun control, told CNN's Mary Snow on Friday that Paterson is "making a very bad choice as far as picking someone who in my opinion doesn't represent New York state."

McCarthy, whose husband was shot to death, said she boycotted the press conference in Albany, New York, because Paterson was "picking the person who I obviously do not agree with."

McCarthy said she's fought for tougher gun safety measures and cited Gillibrand's strong support for Second Amendment rights. The Second Amendment deals with the right to bear arms.

Gillibrand, however, touts her support of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System Improvement Act, which provides incentives to states to update background checks, according to Gillibrand's congressional Web site. - CNN

I had to put this up, not that I care what they do in New York, it was the comments from McCarthy just had me shaking my head. She is blasting Gillibrand for supported the Constitution of America. She is blasting her for supporting an Amendment, while arguing to change it. That is what is wrong with some of these idiots. The Constitution is suppose to be the laws that we are Governed by, but they thing that they should just change them to fit their needs and desires.

Obama's Stimulus Plan Won't Work

Democrats tried to mitigate the impact of a Congressional Budget Office study that questioned administration claims that the money could be spent fast enough to reduce joblessness quickly. - FOX News

"I recognize that there are still some differences around the table and between the administration and members of Congress about particular details of the plan," Obama said as he sat down with the House and Senate leaders from both parties in the White House's Roosevelt Room.

"But what I think unifies the group is recognition that we are experiencing an unprecedented, perhaps, economic crisis that has to be dealt with rapidly," he said.

Many Republican lawmakers say the $825 billion package is too costly, and that too much of the spending is for long-range projects that won't aid the economy quickly. Some economists say the package should be even bigger, however, and it was unclear whether Republicans would have much impact. - FOX News

Many experts have said that this Stimulus Package which is actually expected to cost more than $1 Trillion, won't have much of an affect on the economy at all. It is more of just a spending bill. Much of the spending will take place over the next 2-3 years and won't have much if any affect on getting the economy moving. Obama and the Democrats appear to be pushing this spending bill through under a smoke screen of a Stimulus Package to help the economy.

County Supervisors attend Inauguration with Taxpayer Dollars

Milwaukee resident Janice Sabb can understand why people wanted to be in the nation's Capitol for Barack Obama's inauguration.

"It's history, of course," said Sabb.

She doesn't understand why Milwaukee County Board Supervisors Elizabeth Coggs and Toni Clark used taxpayer dollars to go.

"People are out here struggling and they get to go," she said. "I wanted to go. I couldn't afford to go."

Coggs and Clark wove official business into their trip, including a meeting with Congresswoman Gwen Moore. County Board Chief of Staff Terrence Cooley approved the trip on that basis.

The junket came with a hefty premium. The county paid $931 for the two round-trip plane tickets. Clark billed the county $2,227 for five hotel nights at Comfort Inn Near The Pentagon. - WTMJ Story

I know this may come as a big shocker to many of you, but we paid for them to go and attend the Inauguration of President Obama. Oh but wait, they were there on official business. They had a meeting with Congresswoman Gwen Moore. Sounds like a big fat lie to get there and have us pay for it. There is a problem with politicians taking advantage of us tax payers, and for far too long we just sit and shake our heads at their antics. We need to stand up, dust ourselves off, and remake the Government. Remake it from the bottom up.

Obama has Run in with White House Press Corp

According to reports, when the Politico's Jonathan Martin asked the president about his nominee for deputy secretary of defense, William Lynn, Obama refused to answer, saying he was not there to take questions.

"I came down here to visit. I didn't come down here -- this is what happens. I can't end up visiting you guys and shaking hands if I am going to grilled every time I come down here," the president said.

Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter's shoulder and staring him in the eye.

"All right, come on" he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. "We will be having a press conference, at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys -- that's all I was trying to do," Politico.com reported.

The situation came to a close when a cameraman in the room interrupted, declaring: "I'd like to say it one more time: 'Mr. President.'"

The nominee in question, William Lynn, is a former lobbyist for defense contractor Raytheon, a pick Obama made in contradiction to his much-heralded anti-lobbying rules. - FOX News

Obama in an apparent attempt to prove he is about change signed an executive order banning lobbyist from serving in his Administration for at least 2 years. Meaning that if you lobbied for a defense contractor, you would have to work somewhere else for at least 2 years before you could work for the Department of Defense. Then he turns around and nominates a lobbyist for a defense contractor to be Deputy Secretary of Defense. "Do as I say, not as I do."

Welcome to the real world Mr. President. You may have lived in a bubble during the election with the media not asking the hard questions, hopfully that is over and you will have to answer these questions now.

By the way, that was a very good question.

Brewers and Fielder reach Deal

Reports are coming out that the Milwaukee Brewers and Prince Fielder have come to an agreement on a contract. Reports are that it is a 2 year deal worth around $18 Million.

Not a bad move on the Brewers part to try and keep the nucleus of the team together. I am not sure that he is worth that kind of money at this point. He had a great year two years ago, but last year things were not all that good.

I hope that this is the beginning of a long and prosperous relationship.

Another NY Giants Receiver Shot

New York Giants receiver Taye Biddle is recovering from gunshot wounds to his hand and leg after being shot while visiting family in his hometown.

Decatur police said in a statement Thursday that Biddle was shot Sunday night outside a residence and was treated and released from a local hospital. Police said there was no evidence Biddle caused or provoked the shooting. - CBS News

What is it whith NY Giants Receivers and Guns? This is the Third event in the last two months involving NY Giants, Receivers and guns. Steve Smith was robbed at gunpoint, Plaxico Burres shot himself in the leg, and now Taye Biddle. Maybe that explains the gun laws in NY.

Girls Team who Won 100-0 is The Real Loser

A Texas high school girls basketball team on the winning end of a 100-0 game has a case of blowout remorse.

Now officials from The Covenant School say they are trying to do the right thing by seeking a forfeit and apologizing for the margin of victory.

“It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened,” Kyle Queal, the head of the school, said in a statement, adding the forfeit was requested because “a victory without honor is a great loss.” - NBC

A parent who attended the game told The Associated Press that Covenant continued to make 3-pointers — even in the fourth quarter. She praised the Covenant players but said spectators and an assistant coach were cheering wildly as their team edged closer to 100 points. - NBC

“I think the bad judgment was in the full-court press and the 3-point shots,” said Renee Peloza, whose daughter plays for Dallas Academy. “At some point, they should have backed off.”

Dallas Academy coach Jeremy Civello told The Dallas Morning News that the game turned into a “layup drill,” with the opposing team’s guards waiting to steal the ball and drive to the basket. Covenant scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and “finally eased up when they got to 100 with about four minutes left,” he said.

Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school. It is winless over the last four seasons. The academy boasts of its small class sizes and specializes in teaching students struggling with “learning differences,” such as short attention spans or dyslexia. - NBC

“On a personal note, I told the coach of the losing team how much I admire their girls for continuing to compete against all odds,” Burleson said. “They showed much more character than the coach that allowed that score to get out of hand. It’s up to the coach to control the outcome.”

In the statement on the Covenant Web site, Queal said the game “does not reflect a Christ-like and honorable approach to competition. We humbly apologize for our actions and seek the forgiveness of Dallas Academy, TAPPS and our community.” - NBC

This is a great story. Not because of the 100-0 score, but because of how the Winning schools Administration has handled it. That not only was poor sport, but classless. I have coached many sports and I try to make sure that things never get too lopsided. It isn't any good for their team nor yours.

Former Wall Street CEO Under Fire

Son of Madison Police Chief Charged

The son of Madison's Police Chief is charged with felony theft and could face a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted.

According to a criminal complaint, Brent Wray, 24, stole more than $28,000 from the Betty Brinn Children's Museum in Milwaukee "by punching in fraudulent refunds at a cash register and by deleting payments at the cash register."

In November, Museum officials discovered that Wray, who was an assitant manager, had been "taking cash from the mueum on a regular basis in amounts that were as high as $900."

His alleged "thefts began in 2006 when he took $203. In 2007, [Wray allegedly] took $6,676.50 and in 2008 he took $21,661.50." - WTMJ

The bad news for young Mr. Wray, is that he is going to face much more scrutiny because of his Dad's occupation.

Obama Signs Gitmo Order

Obama followed through with signing the order to close the Gitmo detention facility. He says he is taking the high moral road. His supporters are backing him completely, but will they keep his back as the criticism grows?

Closing Gitmo is going to create quite a web of issues for the new President, and although all of Democrat friends are in full support of it right now, how long will that support last? It is easy to look at things from afar and think you are doing the right thing, but you need to dig deeper before you make a drastic move like this.

Critics are coming at the President from all sides and as this lingers on for the next 12 months you can expect the rumble to become a roar and test the President.

Doyle in Washington to Get Money for Wisconsin

"I think in some areas, we will be competing, and in some areas it will come out with some pretty mathematical formulas based on population and other factors," said Doyle. "It's a mix of both."

Right now, discussion involves Wisconsin receiving $2.5 billion and about $500 million for transportation projects.

"Those are still very, very rough. Everybody in our budget offices, and others, are looking at various things. It is going to be very significant. It's going to be numbers in that ballpark." - WTMJ Story

The line I am sure will be long, as state after state is in need of money to help fill budget deficits across the country. I would like to think that common sense will go into it, but we are talking about bureacrats here. I think that each state should have to show good faith in their budget before agreeing to give them any money. We all know how wasteful the spending is.

Last night I listened to Milwaukee's mayor talk about what he wants money for. He wants to add new 3 new libraries. Seriously, is that a priority? Wasn't it just not too long ago we were cutting those back. Is that a wise use of money. He wants money for a business park? In the climate of business shutting up, is that a priority right now?

Those are the stupid things that these people do. Spend the money on important things, improving the streets, improving education (Fix MPS), lowering property taxes so people can afford to live (that would help the economy), important things throughout the city.

Obama Continues Push to close Gitmo

President Obama is expected Thursday to sign executive orders calling for the closing of the detention center at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba within the year and the development of new procedures for handling detainees and new policies on interrogations. - FOX News

Under a scenario foreshadowed in the draft orders, some detainees being held at Guantanamo would be released, while others would be transferred elsewhere and later put on trial under terms to be determined. Closing Guantanamo could potentially mean moving the remaining detainees to federal prisons in the U.S., such as the Leavenworth prison in Kansas.

Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, vehemently opposes that idea. He introduced legislation almost immediately after the draft regulation was announced requiring Obama to provide Congress 90 days' notice as well as a study that answers specific questions relating to security, logistics and alternatives before taking any action to close the Guantanamo prison or move the detainees. - FOX News

I don't quite understand the thinking on this whole thing. These people are prisoners of war, where should they be housed? Is this Obama's plan, to house prisoners of war in Prisons on the homeland? Does that mean that during times of war, when we take enemy prisoners we need to ship them back to the USA to be put into one of the prisons here? That doesn't make any since. That doesn't seem like a responsible thing to do, what about our Security? If you disagree with the process, then change the process. Don't bring the enemy to within our borders and put our very safety at risk. I hope that someone steps up and forces some sensibility here.

9/11 Families outraged at Obama

Family members of people killed on September 11, 2001, and in other terror attacks say they are outraged by President Obama's draft order calling for the suspension of war crimes trials of prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay.

"To me it's beyond comprehension that they would take the side of the terrorists," said Peter Gadiel, whose son, James, was killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. "Many of these people have been released and been right back killing, right back at their terrorist work again." - FOX News

"I see no reason why we should delay these proceedings. Let justice be served," said Jefferson Crowther, whose 24-year-old son, Welles, was killed in the Twin Towers after he saved the lives of several others.

Critics blasted Obama's decision, which they said would delay justice in cases that have already been waiting for the better part of a decade.

"There is no need to suspend [the military tribunals]. There is no reason why [Obama] can't conduct a concurrent review at the same time that the military commission process is moving forward to render justice for the terrorists that have murdered thousands of people," said former Cmdr. Kirk Lippold, who lost 17 sailors during a suicide bombing attack on the USS Cole in 2000. A suspect in the case is being held at Guantanamo.

"It demeans their deaths because we seem to be more concerned with the rights of detainees than we are with the justice that is being denied to my sailors that were killed," Lippold told FOXNews.com. - FOX News

What Obama and all of the bleeding hearts out there fail to realize, these people being held there are the bad of the bad. These are the people who attacked the US and killed thousands of people. These are people that if given the chance would do it again. But hey, what the hell, we shouldn't be mean to them. They deserve to be cuddled and cared for. You wonder why crime is up? People who don't get the fact that when you commit a crime you lose certain rights.

Repubs want Obama to Change Stimulus Package

WASHINGTON (CNN) – House Republican leaders Wednesday asked for a meeting with President Obama on Thursday to offer major changes to the $825 billion economic recovery package proposed by House Democrats last week.

"The challenge as we see it is to create a plan that helps middle class taxpayers and small businesses without wasting money or exploding our national deficit," the leaders wrote in a letter to the new president. "We believe the economic recovery plan should primarily create real, long term jobs, encourage entrepreneurs, and help average Americans keep more of their money to save and invest."

"We can do better than this. We have to do better than this. This bill is not worthy of our new president's signature," he told reporters Wednesday. - Rep. Paul Ryan

Ryan argued that the bill should be aimed at creating jobs in 2009, and cited a GOP analysis of the plan that finds that less than 10 percent of the spending doesn't occur until 2010 or later.

Sounds to me like the Republicans are trying to stop the out of control spending that is going on in Washington. We have poured Billions and Trillions into the economy with little effect. Here is what the Democratic Left is saying about this tidbit of Trying to work together.

"Do I hear the sound of toothless gums flapping?"

"
Hey, Repukes! Want in one hand and shit in the other. Let me know which hand fills up first."

"
Exploding our national debt? Who the f*** did that, a**holes?"

That one makes me laugh. If the Debt exploding was Bush, isn't Obama about change, so we shouldn't continue to explode the debt.

"
Rep or Dem.. no point in throwing good money after bad.."

Figured I would finish it off with at least one smart one.

Wonka's Elevator could be Key to Space Travel

Ever since it was first popularized by Arthur C. Clarke, the idea of a "space elevator" has languished in the realms of science fiction. But now a team of British scientists has taken the first step on what could be a high-tech stairway to heaven.

Spurred on by a $4 million research prize from NASA, a team at Cambridge University has created the world's strongest ribbon: a cylindrical strand of carbon that combines lightweight flexibility with incredible strength and has the potential to stretch vast distances.

The development has been seized upon by the space scientists, who believe the technology could allow astronauts to travel into space via a cable thousands of miles long — a space elevator.

They predict the breakthrough will revolutionize space travel. Such an elevator could potentially offer limitless and cheap space travel.

At a stroke, it would make everything from tourism to more ambitious expeditions to Mars commercially viable. The idea couldn't come too soon for NASA, which spends an estimated $500 million every time the shuttle blasts off, not to mention burning about 900 tons of polluting rocket fuel. - FOX News Story

Now wouldn't that be something? Talk about a scary trip, on a thin cable.

Mayors Wife Files for Divorce

Online court records show that the wife of former Racine Mayor Gary Becker is filing for divorce.

Julie A. Becker is going through with the divorce process the day after Becker resigned from his job. - WTMJ

This is not earth shattering. Can you imagine what must be going on within that circle after finding out all of the stuff that your spouse is being accused of? I can't see where anyone would blame her on this one.

Obama enjoys last night of Freedom

President Obama enjoys the night of festivities with the First Lady. This is the final night of freedom he will see for at least the next 4 years.

Starting Tomorrow, the talk is over and the rubber meets the pavement. All of America and the World will be watching to see what the man is made of. In these tumultuous times the honeymoon could be very very short. There are very high expectations of the President, quite unrealistic in my opinion, but he did little to quell them. His every move will be monitored and every decision will be scrutinized.

You could blame it all on the previous Administration, but it is on your shoulders to solve it. Be it right, wrong or indifferent, you now own it.

Quick and decisive decisions will need to be made to help ease the burdens on the American People. Arguing to stop spending $10 billion a month on the Iraq war will fall on def ears when we are spending Trillions of dollars on bailouts and stimulus packages like we are made of money. The President needs to have quick relief hit main street today, not trickle down from the banks.

Everyone should be hoping for success by President Obama, whether you voted for him or not. Success by him, is success for the Country. This is OUR President!!!

Inauguration of Obama

Kennedy Collapses

Sen. Ted Kennedy suffered a seizure and was taken away by emergency medical personnel during President Obama's celebratory inaugural luncheon on Tuesday.

A Republican House leadership member told FOX News that Kennedy had a seizure at the end of the lunch, the seizure lasted a while. He was taken out on a wheelchair and had to have his legs lifted up to get him out of the room. - FOX News

Multiple media outlets are reporting that the Senator has been hospitalized.

Sack #4 in New York?

Ryan should pick up the telephone in his new office and put in a call to the Favre farm informing the quarterback politely but firmly that the organization has decided to go in a different direction, whether Favre eventually decides to return or not. The last thing Ryan needs is to be held hostage by one of Favre's "To Play or Not To Play" dramas. - FOX Sports

There is no Love for #4 in New York. It has been a sad fall from glory for Favre. He can blame whomever he wants, but when you have the Jets saying the same thing the Packers did then you gotta wonder about the guy.

Racine Mayor Resignes

Racine Mayor Gary Becker has tendered a letter of resignation and will leave office at 5:00 this evening. The mayor is charged with five felonies, including sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography. - WTMJ Story

Today is probably a good day to do it. Everyone will be wrapped up in the Inauguration of the new President and this will slip through relatively un-noticed. I guess it really doesn't matter when he resigned, as long as he did.

Obama is Now Our President

This morning the President-Elect became the President. He is now our President.

After a rough swearing in, President Obama gave his address to the Nation. Although I thought it was a good speech, I also found myself thinking that it wasn't very graceful and didn't appear designed to Unite the two sides very much.

I got the pitch to get Americans to join him in solving the problems, but the undertones of blame appeared.

Now we turn the page and start the new chapter. I am sure we will be continually reminded that everything happened because of the previous chapter, but he now owns it. This was what he wanted and he must embrace it, own it, and solve it.

McGahee takes Big Hit in AFC Championship

He has been released from the hospital and is expected to fully recover.

Ayers Denied entry to Canada

William Ayers, the 1960s radical whose ties to President-elect Barack Obama caused trouble for his campaign, was turned away from Canada Sunday night as he tried to enter the country for a series of educational events.

Ayers, a co-founder of the violent Weather Underground group and current education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, told the Toronto Star that he didn't know why he had been turned away.

According to Kugler, Ayers was told he could request a hearing but that would mean some sort of detention and a possible two week wait. Ayers opted to return to Chicago. - FOX News Story

Funny how he wasn't such a bad guy during the campaign, but I guess Canada thinks he might not be such a good guy.

Will Bush be Vindicated?

In his final radio address as president-elect on the Sunday ahead of his inauguration, Barack Obama said President Bush "extended the hand of cooperation" to him throughout this period of transition. It was a final act of civility, on Mr. Bush's part.

It is a trait that is not surprising to those who know Bush (or those paying some attention at least half of the time). At least one Democrat has given him credit for it. Unfortunately, that tone of civility has been lost on the Democratic leadership over the past eight years. - CNN Story

"I believe President Bush will be vindicated," said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in an interview a couple of weeks ago. She may be an ardent defender of Bush, but I believe she's right. She, like I, have a different vantage point than what has been routinely portrayed.

While sitting in the Oval Office with the 43rd president, for what was his last official week in office last Thursday, I got the sense that he feels he will be vindicated, too.

He won't say as much, directly, but indirectly points to what matters most in his eyes -- protecting the homeland. "History will eventually see ... that not only was it necessary to take the steps I took, but [they] led to a better world," the president told me. - CNN

The legacy Bush leaves behind won't be everything he wanted (particularly as it relates to popularity), but on many fronts, it will be better than that of his predecessor. Bill Clinton may have been popular, but his moral failings brought shame on the office of the presidency and tainted the people's house. - CNN

What Country could be Biggest Security Threat to US?

Indiscriminate kidnappings. Nearly daily beheadings. Gangs that mock and kill government agents.

This isn't Iraq or Pakistan. It's Mexico, which the U.S. government and a growing number of experts say is becoming one of the world's biggest security risks. - CBS NEWS Story

Retiring CIA chief Michael Hayden told reporters on Friday that that Mexico could rank alongside Iran as a challenge for Obama - perhaps a greater problem than Iraq - CBS News

...in November that Phoenix, Arizona has already become ground zero for an explosion in reported kidnappings and home invasions involving drug traffickers and criminals with connections to Mexican drug cartels. - CBS News

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff recently told The New York Times he ordered additional border security plans to be drawn up this summer as kidnappings and killings spilled into the U.S. - CBS News

I am trying to remember who all was behind the big outcry of building a fence to separate the US from Mexico? It seems like all of the people who were jumping and screaming at President Bush about his plan to build a wall/fence just didn't get it. Could President Bush, "the Worst President Ever" have been right on target with this one?

Steelers & Cardinals in Superbowl

Kurt Warner is back in the Superbowl, this time with the Arizona Cardinals. Since my Titans Choked against the Ravens I have been rooting for Kurt Warner to win it all.

How he didn't win the MVP is still beyond me. It wasn't even to someone like Chad Pennington who helped turn the Dolphins around. It was to Payton Manning who did not do anything to deserve it. His team was not all that good this year and he quite honestly sucked for the first part of the year. But I guess he is the NFL Good Boy!!!

The Steelers will be a tough test for the Cardinals and I think this will be a really good game. The Steelers will need the break to get healthy again after the hard hitting of the game against the Ravens. WOW, if you didn't watch that game you missed some of the hardest hitting football I have seen in quite some time.

I am going to be cheering on the Cardinals.

Dom Capers Defensive Coordinator

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that the Packers will name Dom Capers their new defensive coordinator.

According to the newspaper's Packers Blog, a source familiar with the search process says head coach Mike McCarthy reached an agreement with Capers on a deal Sunday night. - WTMJ Story

Although I know that he wasn't the one of the top candidates for the job, I do think that he has the experience that McCarthy was looking for. He needed to find a Defensive Coordinator that could hire his own staff, and take control of the whole thing and take some of the pressure and duties off of the Head Coach.
