Milwaukee resident Janice Sabb can understand why people wanted to be in the nation's Capitol for Barack Obama's inauguration.
"It's history, of course," said Sabb.
She doesn't understand why Milwaukee County Board Supervisors Elizabeth Coggs and Toni Clark used taxpayer dollars to go.
"People are out here struggling and they get to go," she said. "I wanted to go. I couldn't afford to go."
Coggs and Clark wove official business into their trip, including a meeting with Congresswoman Gwen Moore. County Board Chief of Staff Terrence Cooley approved the trip on that basis.
The junket came with a hefty premium. The county paid $931 for the two round-trip plane tickets. Clark billed the county $2,227 for five hotel nights at Comfort Inn Near The Pentagon. - WTMJ Story
I know this may come as a big shocker to many of you, but we paid for them to go and attend the Inauguration of President Obama. Oh but wait, they were there on official business. They had a meeting with Congresswoman Gwen Moore. Sounds like a big fat lie to get there and have us pay for it. There is a problem with politicians taking advantage of us tax payers, and for far too long we just sit and shake our heads at their antics. We need to stand up, dust ourselves off, and remake the Government. Remake it from the bottom up.
