George Webb Closes Stores

Despite the closing of two George Webb's restaurants in Racine in recent days, the restaurant chain says it is doing very well in the current economic conditions.

In a statement, the corporation said that its 2008 chain-wide sales were up 4%, and that it is experiencing "good growth and traffic at all of our restaurants."

Webb's also said it's opening a new location in Sussex.

The statement also said that the franchise owner made a personal decision to clsoe the Racine locations at 4555 Douglas Avenue and 5400 Washington Avenue, and that people could attend nearby locations in Burlington, Kenosha and South Milwaukee. - WTMJ

I like eating at George Webb. Although the one by my house is so slow, we quit going there because it was taking over an hour just to sit down and get a meal. My family loves going there. I hope that this is not the beginning of a trend for them. If you haven't tried one, give it a shot.
