The 18 year old West Virginia University Freshman won election on Tuesday against attorney Layne Diehl, a Democrat.
She turned 18 in July and came in just barely old enough to serve in the West Virginia Delegates.

The young Republican told Fox News on Thursday that she hopes her candidacy helps encourage her conservative contemporaries to get more involved.Her father who is a State Senator might not have known just what he had when his daughter was shadowing him and helping on his campaigns.
"I think they're afraid to be open about their views," Blair told Fox News. "I hope that, you know, being open that it's okay to have the same views as your grandparents, I'm hoping that some more young people will stand for their beliefs."
Congratulations Saira. We need more young people to step up and get involved.
