Why Should Redskins Change Name Now?

The Washington Redskins have been getting heat for the last few years about getting rid of the name Redskins.  Why should they change it now?

The Football team has been using the name of Redskins since 1932.  Now people like Sen. Reid is claiming that it is offensive?  It might be to some people and I understand that, but you can't just tell someone to change their corporations name that they have been using for over 80 years because now someone is offended by it.

Next thing you know we will be getting rid of teams like the Brewers because that talks about alchol and that is offensive to people who don't drink.  What about the New York Yankees?  Talk about offensive.  Green Bay Packers?  New Orleans Saints?  Kansas City Chiefs?  Cleveland Indians?  L.A. Angels?  Golden State Warriors?

There are many many others that in one way or another could be considered offensive.  Every one of those teams mentioned I can guarantee have no intention of being offensive.  Many of those names came to me many years ago and no one had an issue with it then.  So now because we are becoming so much more thin skinned and overly sensitive to things that just don't matter.

With all the problems in the world and things that really do matter, why in the hell are we spending so much time and effort worrying about names.  Suck it up and quit being so sensitive to things that really just don't matter.  If the name of a corporation or sports team offends you then don't support them.  Root for their competitor.  Grow up and move on.
