If two Alderman get there way, that is exactly what will happen.
Racine District 12 Alderman Aron Wisneski believes that if you open up the opportunity for Racine Students to be guaranteed the ability to further their education it will encourage them to work harder.
The system is described as a model after one in Kalamazoo, MI. The plan would be that you have to graduate, and be a resident of Racine. Kalamazoo has seen a 15% increase in enrollment in the last first 3 years. They say it will be funded by private donations.
The biggest hitch in the plan, is that they say all you have to do is graduate, the GPA won't matter.
I think that this has some good ideas. I would really like to see the whole plan to understand it better. Look at the up side. If you can truly get the funding through private donations, the increase in enrollment as people move to the area to take advantage of the program will bring more dollars into the area. It will also add to jobs as the enrollment increases.
I will have to hold judgment until more information is know. WTMJ Story
