In September the MPS Board voted to explore the possibility of dissolving the Milwaukee Public School System. They also said that they are not ready to give up.I think a lot of people wish they would move on. However now comes the news that State senator Ted Kanavas of Brookfield says he’ll introduce a bill to dissolve the district. He suggests separating schools into multiple districts.
This could be exactly what the district needs to revive itself. It is abundantly clear that the people running the district at this point can not handle the task. Maybe it is just too big and needs to be restructured.
This could be the first move in a long needed overhaul of the system. I am sure that it will be an uphill battle, but it should get some serious consideration.
