As JMart first noted over the weekend, Danny Tarkanian – son of the famed UNLV basketball coach – announced Friday that he’s running against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
Tarkanian, who currently runs a real estate business, doesn’t quite have the winning touch of his father. In 2004, he lost a state Senate race and followed that up by losing the 2006 race for Secretary of State in Nevada.
He recently won a court victory on defamation charges against his state Senate opponent who accused him of bad business practices during the campaign.
As Nevada political guru Jon Ralston wrote: “Tarkanian, who has never won a race, must think he has no baggage and can suddenly become a U.S. senator. His bizarre announcement -- 916 area code? -- is below” - Politico
I don't know how anyone can look down on him for running. This Congress isn't doing any good, and people are ready to make sweeping changes due to the disaster that is taking place.
Hell, Minnesota elected a Comedian for God's Sake.
