Does Walker Need to Work with Minority?

It is the same saying every time one side loses:

James E. Causey is a Journal Sentinel editorial:

Now that Gov. Scott Walker has won his re-election bid, one of the first things he needs to do is explain how he plans on serving the 47% who voted against him.

Wisconsin remains divided, and last I checked, Walker is the governor of the entire state, not just the 52% who voted for him. All the state's citizens deserve to have their needs and interests represented — rich or poor, Republican or Democrat, regardless of race.
It is always convenient for them to push this agenda when they lose, but they always seem to forget this and call it a mandate for their side when they win.

So does Scott Walker need to explain how he plans on serving those who voted against him?  The plain and simple answer is no.  He does not.  Elections are won by a majority of voters and as long as you win, you don't need to do anything for the minority.  If the Left wants to push this, lets look at their record.  What did Democrats do when they won the House, Senate and Presidency?  The passed Obamacare without a single republican vote.  In fact they told the Minority they didn't need them at all and had a grand old time doing whatever they wanted.

With that being said, would it be a good thing for Gov. Walker to try and reach out to the Minority?  Absolutely.  Anytime you can work with the other side it is a good thing and tends to be very helpful overall.

The problem here is that the Minority hasn't shown any ambition in working with Gov. Walker.  They have supported the ridiculous outburst at the Capitol with all the protestors and the over the top behavior of some of them.  They backed the outburst even when some of them were criminal.  They resorted to name calling and personal attacks.  They also left the state instead of debating Act 10.

Working together is a two way street.  It will take the Minority Leadership to eat some humble pie and be willing to go against the Union and the extreme left to sit down with Gov. Walker and work together.  Both sides will have to be willing to give.  The Minority always has to give more than the Majority.  That is the nature of politics.  Truth is, the Majority don't really need the Minority, they don't have to give to get things done.

I have said it a million times over, when you make decisions as the Majority, remember that some day you will be the Minority.

James E. Causey is a Journal Sentinel editorial:
But here's my worry: Tuesday's victory will cause Walker to continue his "take it or leave it" approach, further dividing the state. This is not a time to dig in deeper just to score points. Those who voted for Democratic challenger Mary Burke still need to hold Walker accountable.
That above statement shows just how ready the left is to work with Gov. Walker.  Walker will continue his take it or leave it approach, further dividing the state?

What exactly has Gov. Walker done that is a "take it or leave it"?  Act 10?  Democrats decided they didn't want to debate or be a part of it.  He gave them the option to be a part of the process and instead they left the state and proclaimed their intent to kill it completely.  The Republicans found a way to pass the bill regardless of their move.  That one is squarely on them.  If they would have been there then they might have a gripe.

Further Divide the State?  Who exactly has been furthering the divide in the state?  Could it possibly be the Out of State Unions and the Democrats?  How about the Democratic Party Leader, both State and Nationally?  Statements made by Debbie Wasserman Schultz?  "Scott Walker has given women the back of his hand. I know that is stark. I know that is direct. But that is reality."  or "What Republican tea party extremists like Scott Walker are doing is they are grabbing us by the hair and pulling us back. It is not going to happen on our watch."

Gov. Walker doesn't need the Minority party, but they do need him.  They can sit on the sidelines and wait until the next election or they can be a part of continuing to move the state forward.  The decision is really up to the Minority Party.  If they try to be a part of it and get shut out, then that would be a problem for Gov. Walker and Republicans, but if they sit it out and continue to just complain and not be a part of it, that doesn't stop Gov. Walker or the Republicans and again will hurt the Democrats next election.

Second Guessing Begins for Democrats in Wisconsin

Now that the election is over and the Democrats in Wisconsin had a bad night, let the second guessing and attacks begin.

These are from the DPW Facebook Page:

Right Wisconsin

Mike Tate is a gift from the political gods.   However, the fact that he has remained the standard bearer for the Wisconsin Democrats as long as he has is an indictment of the entire party more than it is of him.  He’s doing the best he can.  They are the ones that keep putting this political and strategic ignoramus in charge.  We really need to make sure he stays in place.  He is the Wayne Fontes of Wisconsin politics. No matter how bad things look for the GOP, we can look over and see Coach Tate pacing the Dem sidelines and realize we’ve still got a pretty good chance for a win.

Huge Night of GOP Victories in National Politics

It didn't take that long after the polls started closing before it was clear that the GOP in for a historic night.

Just two (2) days ago Debbie Wasserman Schultz insisted that the Democrats will hold the Senate.  The Democrats also thought that even if they lose the Senate they will add to their list of Democratic Governors across the Country.

Boy were they ever wrong!!!

The Republicans quickly started turning the Senate to Red.  The thought going in was that the Republicans might pick up 6 Senate seats, enough to turn the Senate Red, but it will be an uphill fight.  However by the time the night was over, it wasn't much of an uphill fight at all.  They picked up 7 and have a good chance yet to make it 9 and an outside possibility of making it 10.

Pick ups in the Senate:
Arkansas - Tom Cotton beat Incumbent Dem Mark Pryor 57%-39%
Colorado - Cory Gardner beat Incumbent Mark Udall 49%-45%
Iowa - Joni Ernst beat Democrat Bruce Braley 52%-44%
Montana - Steve Daines beat Democrat Amanda Curtis 58%-40%
North Carolina - Thom Tillis beat Incumbent Kay Hagan 49%-47%
South Dakota - Mike Rounds beat Democrat Rick Weiland 50%-30%
West Virginia - Shelley Moore Capito beat Democrat Natalie Tennant 62%-34%
Right now the Republicans have control of the Senate with a 52-45 Majority.  However there are a three (3) seats still not decided.
Alaska - Dan Sullivan leading Democrat Mark Begich 49%-45% with 73% counted
Louisiana - Going to a Run off.  Most think this will end up going Republican
Virginia - Mark Warner leading Republican Ed Gillespie by 12,000 votes with 95% counted.
The Democrats went all out after Mitch McConnell in Kentucky.  They felt they had a good chance to unseat him.  However those ambitions fell short when McConnell won easily 56%-41%.  They also thought that they had a really good shot at unseating Pat Roberts in Kansas.  Pulling the Democrat off the ticket to try and push more votes to the Independent.  That also failed when Roberts won 53%-42%.

The House of Representatives also represented a bad night for the Democrats.  The GOP is projected to win at least 12 seats and increase their majority.  This will push them past a major milestone and give them a majority not seen since 1946.

For the Republicans, the night couldn't have gotten better.  But it did.  They were also able to take over some deep Blue States at the Governor level.  The GOP was able to stave off some heavy spending and full push by the Democrats in Wisconsin, Walker won 52%-47%.  They also won Ohio and Florida.  Then came the icing on the cake.  They turned Maryland, Massachusetts and Illinois all Red.  What!?

Yes.  Republican Bruce Rauner was able to beat Democratic Incumbent Governor Pat Quinn 51%-46% in Obama's back yard.  Illinois went Red in the Governors Race.

Republicans could also pick up Vermont.  The race is too close to call.  Democrat Peter Shumlin is beating Scott Milne by about 2,000 votes with 79% counted.

MSNBC Ed Schultz Shocked at Walker Win

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Became Less Relevant

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, It's Editorial Board and Dan Bice, became less relevant after this election.

After dedicating so much space in the pages of their paper to push the Mary Burke agenda and their attempts to muddy the waters for Gov. Walker, they are again proven to be less relevant than even before.  They did everything possible to keep the John Doe Investigation front and center during this election cycle.  Making sure to put the Governor dead center in the mix of the John Doe and rebuked every report that showed Walker was clear of both John Doe I and II.

They went on the attack on behalf of the Burke Campaign and provided cover for the Milwaukee DA every time that information came out that shed the John Doe Investigation in a bad light.  The Court Hearings that stopped the investigation, information about the true motives behind the investigation, and multiple reports that Walker had done nothing wrong.  The Journal Sentinel was right there to try and pull Walker back in.

The Journal Sentinel even went on the attack when information surfaced about Burke and her time at Trek.  They immediately attacked the people who spoke out about Burke.  They got dirty and attacked them.  I don't know if it was because they were upset that they didn't know or if they knew and just didn't want their Candidate to go down in flames.  Well it didn't work.

So now we can get ready for John Doe III and the Journal Sentinel can fire up their presses to get ready to try and go after the Governor yet again.

If you wonder why you are becoming more and more irrelevant?  Maybe because you have a losing formula and keep doubling down on it.  How about you get out and try something different?  How about you report the news?  You are suppose to be a Newspaper.

Big Night for GOP in Wisconsin

Wisconsin has always been known as a Blue State, but that appears to be continuing to change.  Even with all the National Union Money and National Democratic Party help, the GOP continues to win.

The Governors race went pretty much as I expected.  Actually finishing right where I thought it would at 52%-47%.  It took the National Networks a lot longer to call it than I thought, however the result was dead on.  Walker has the ability to get his voters out.  Walker won 56 Counties and lost only 16.  Seven (7) of the Counties Walker lost, he lost by less than 1,000 votes.

The Attorney General's race was a negative race.  Although still not as close as some expected.  I had expected that Schimel would win, but was surprised at how close it was.  Schimel won all but 14 counties, but the margins were tighter than in the Governors race. Happ wasn't even able to carry her own county.

The big surprise of the night was how tight the race for Secretary of State was.  LaFollette is a main stay of the Democrats and the Left and never considered to be in trouble.  However the race was a much tighter race than expected across the state.  He was able to hold on and win, but not before some nail biting on the Democratic side.

Republican were also able to hold the numbers in the U.S. House of Representatives by holding 4 of the 7 seats.  None of those races were considered close.

In the Wisconsin Senate, the Republicans won 11 of the 15 races across the state. They also increased their majority here by 1.

In the Wisconsin Assembly the Republicans won 33 of the 51 seats and two are still not decided because the vote count is too close.  In both of those the Republican is winning, but by less than 100 votes.  If the Republicans win those then they will go 35-16 in the Assembly.  The Assembly Republicans now have a majority not seen in 50 years.

Overall the election in Wisconsin was a blockbuster for Walker.  If the Democrats and the Unions wanted to make this election as a rebuke of the Walker Agenda, they failed miserably.

Mike Tate and Chris Larson have to be wondering what went so wrong.

Mike Tate the State Democratic Party Chairman will likely be out.  He has failed to put together a winning game against the Governor in 3 straight elections and saw his party lose more seats in the state legislature.

Chris Larson as Minority Leader has seen his plans go up in smoke.  He became even more of a Minority Leader and has become inconsequential in Wisconsin Politics.  This very well could spell the end for him as the Minority Leader.  We will all be better off for that.

MSNBC Election Coverage Explodes

Watching the MSNBC Election Coverage was like watching a complete implosion of Liberal Commentators.

There was very little that they had to say that could be considered content or even News Worthy.

Instead the entire panel spent the whole time trying to blast the Republican Party.  They just couldn't help themselves but talk about how the winners were going to do nothing but cause problems.

They must have forgotten that it was the people of America who elected these people.  It was the decision of the voters.

It is no wonder that they struggle in the ratings and have become so irrelevant when it comes to news.  They can't help but push their agenda on their viewers.

I couldn't help but watch. I will say it was entertaining to watch them explode every time another Republican won.

Mary Burke Forgot The Campaign Was Over

Watching the Mary Burke Concession Speech, I think she forgot that she wasn't campaigning any more.

Nobody told her how to handle losing.

She spent her entire speech still campaigning and even taking shots at the Governor.

Congrats Gov. Walker

Scott Walker was able to make it an early night and win his 3rd election in 4 years.

Glad to see Wisconsin Voters not falling for all the BS that was thrown out there.

Congrats Gov Walker!!!!

Election Day is Finally Here

As if everyone out there in TV Land isn't already tired of the countless Political Ads and the made up stories that have been flashing across our screens with a vengeance.

Today we will finally get the chance to cast our votes and wait for the outcome.

All indications have pointed to a Republican wave across the Country.  Most people believe that the House will become even more GOP and control of the Senate will shift to the GOP.  There is also indications that the GOP will pick up some additional Governorships and some state Legislatures will turn over to GOP as well.

Locally I think that the same will hold true here in Wisconsin.  I think that Gov. Walker will hold on to his seat with a comfortable margin. Schimel will take over as AG and hold that for the GOP.  I think they will also get a pick up seat in the Wisconsin Senate.

The other race to watch will be for the Secretary of State.  This race I think may be a bit tighter than anyone has expected and could be the ultimate take over if Julian Bradley can unseat Democrat Doug La Follette.

Should be an interesting night of vote watching.
