Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), a Cuban-American, has been suspicious of Havana's overtures to the Obama administration -- now he wants to slam the opening door after the feds uncovered a pair of longtime Cuban spies in the State Department.
Martinez, whose opinions on Cuba are respected on both sides of the aisle, wants to put negotiations between the two countries on hold pending a review of the damage done by Walter Kendall Myers and Gwendolyn Steingraber Myers during their more than two decades of espionage.
"{The] arrest of two Americans alleged to have spied for Cuba is reason enough for the Administration to halt any further diplomatic outreach to the regime including postponing the migration talks until the U.S. Congress has a full accounting of the damage these individuals have caused to our national security," he said in statement.
“This is a stark reminder that just 90 miles from our shores, there is a government hostile toward the people of the United States, a regime that seeks to do us harm and works against our interests around the world," he added.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has ordered an extensive internal investigation to determine the extent of the spies' espionage. - Politico
Obama was on a roll, reversing course with Cuba in a mere 100 days in office. Throwing out all of the opinions of Previous Presidents dating back decades. They were wrong and he was going to fix it. Oops, maybe not so fast.
Not like Obama has gotten much wrong. RIGHT!!!
